LCCA Announces a Pair of Doodlebugs

The LCCA brings the excitement and adventure of the doodlebug back with the introduction of doodlebugs herald for the Alsaka Railroad and in continuing livery for the LCCA of the Texas Special.

For experienced railroad buffs, there is no need to define a doodlebug as a self-contained rail passenger car with its own engine. It is a railroad’s equivalent to a street trolley, a single self-powered unit carrying passengers and freight. These strange creatures of the rails played an important role in transportation history, keeping rail passenger service alive to underserved communities for years.

New SP Black Widow Set

The LCCA is proud to introduce its next Lionel Train Set offering. Our last train set was a freight set (the Texas Special) was introduced in 2013 and was a quickly sold out. Additional cars were added to this set for a few years.

This new set is an SP Black Widow FT Diesel with three passenger cars all painted in the Black Widow livery paint scheme. The Black Widow design has been celebrated as one of the best yet it lasted only for a few years, It did require 4 individual paint colors (black, orange, red and silver) and required considerable masking to get right consuming lots of time and money.

This set is full of great Lionel features like LionChief, Bluetooth, Railsound, Lionel Voice Control and more. It will be produced in a single run, not to be reproduced. The SKU 2401200 has been assigned and the set will be offered exclusively through the LCCA. (lionelcollectors.org).

LCCA Announces a New Lionel Visionline Offering for 2024 - a GG1. This is a true to scale model of one of Lionel's icon locomotives of the postwar period. Desired at the time for its stature and pulling power, the GG1 is updated to true scale, and includes the latest Visionline features offered by Lionel.

2024 Convention Car - UP Boat Load

Description

This Lionel produced car, a boat carrier, comes with 4 multicolored boats and is another in the LCCA Union Pacific series. This yellow and red car has silver sprung trucks, has the UP full herald and proudly carries the American Flag.

This car is based on the postwar Lionel 6416 boat carrier offered between 1961 and 1963. The boats on the 6416 came in white hulls and blue tops and red hulls with white tops. The boats for this car will come in a Lionel clamshell so you will have the opportunity to load the car yourself.

The car is limited to one per member. The Lionel number for this car is 2401230. The separate 4 pack of boats has the Lionel number 2230120. Shipping is $16.

Its iconic Original Glazed® doughnut is universally recognized for its hot-off-the-line, melt-in-your-mouth experience. Like those doughnuts, the Lionel MUSA boxcar is universally recognized for its quality as well. In honor of our 2023 Convention held in North Carolina, the LCCA put these two things together.

LCCA opens new tours for its 2023 Convention! The response to the 2023 Concord Convention has been exceptional. Two tours, the visit to the Lionel Facility, and the Wednesday NASCAR Motor Sports tour to multiple racing team shops quickly filled up. The Lionel and the LCCA have been able to open an additional tour to the Lionel facility on Wednesday morning and another Wednesday tour to visit two different NASCAR racing teams.

Tour 18 has been opened for Wednesday Morning visit to the Lionel facility for 120 attendees, making it possible for a total of 600 Convention attendees to enter facility and take the tour. Unfortunately, at this time, it is not possible to expand beyond this number and those wishing to visit Lionel on this tour should sign up before the last remaining seats are sold.

Tour 19 has been added for those who wish to visit a racing team facility but were unable to register for tour 10. Tour 10 was quickly sold out as the team venues were only available to offer 150 seats. Added Tour #19 will consist of a visit to JRM and the Penske facilities. Tour 19 will have the same tour times and cost as Tour 10.
